State Sovereignty

State sovereignty is a supreme power that a state has over is boundaries. It practices this power authoritatively without any external interference. Lately, technology, terrorism, economic and social changes and international communities have eroded it severely in its attempt to accomplish certain mandates.

Terrorism has become the main core of political, social and legal changes. Because they operate in such away that to break rule of law destabilizing international peace and security. This has made it one of the major problem most of the states are addressing leading to constitution of ways and means of apprehending this vice. In the process of fighting terrorism, state sovereign power is undermined. Take an example of Iraq where the government sovereign power is no more.

Cyber-terrorism is another great problem to state sovereign power especially in this era of global village technology. Just as the terrorism defies authority across nation boundaries, cyber terrorism has proved futile. These consist of viruses that corrupt and destroy states data banks that may contain their top secrets. Other cyber programs may be used to hack states databases with vital information on its governance, thus undermining states sovereignty.

Globalization has brought inter-states trade, communications and technology. This has lead to different countries having common interest in order to safeguard their people. Thus, these countries will have to alter their state of governance to accommodate changes brought by the other states.

Environmental impact such as global warming, spread of disease for example swine flu among others has called for state to unite and come above their sovereign power to ensure fight against this. Organizations have been put in place to ensure that all states adhere to laws and order to curb any international disaster. Hence, sovereignty of state in such levels has really been undermined.
