Don Benito and Emiliano Zapata
Benito Juarez was born in 1806 and died in 1872
He was one of the prominent leaders in Mexico where he led a number of political revolutions with an aim of ensuring that Mexicans attained political freedoms. On the other hand, Emiliano Zapata was born in 1879 and died in 1919. During his life time as an important leadership figure in the Mexican Revolution, he was a commander of the liberation army in the South. There are some differences and similarities when it comes to the contributions of the two leaders in the Mexican history.
There are a number of similarities when it comes to the two leaders. To start with, they fought for the rights of the Mexicans so that they would be treated equally. The two leaders led revolutionary armies to achieve their vision of a just and fair Mexico where all the people would be treated equally. They are still remembered for their contributions into the fight for the liberation of the people of Mexico.
There are a number of differences between the contributions made by the two Mexican figures. To start with, Zapata was fighting for land reforms in the South while Juarez was fighting for political freedom of all the Mexicans. Secondly, Juarez made numerous contributions to political reforms whereby he ensured that there was democracy in the country when he lived. On the other hand, most of Zapata’s contributions towards land reforms where implemented after his death. Juarez led the people of Mexico in his official capacity as the president towards achieving political freedom from invaders and internal enemies. Zapata, on the other hand, revolted against the government’s unfair treatment of the people in the south as guerrilla warfare leader.
